FAQs

Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions we are asked about our business. We hope you can find the answer you are looking for, but if you still have a query please feel free to get in touch with us via our contact page.

Are you able to deliver to Amazon Fulfilment Centres? > Answer

As a Preferred Supplier of palletised transport to Amazon, we are specialists in delivering freight to Amazon Fulfilment Centres. As we do with the services we provide to Regional Distribution Centres, we make consolidated deliveries. This has many benefits for our customers, including the reduction of emissions from multiple small deliveries, as well as the elimination of the risk of fines being implemented due to missed delivery slots, as multiple deliveries can be completed at one time.

How do I book a job with Mike Watson Transport? > Answer

To book a delivery service with Mike Watson Transport, you will be required to open an account. Once you have opened an account, you will receive instructions on how to access and use our customer portal. From here, you can arrange a delivery service and time, as well as download paper labels to attach to the goods you wish to send through our service.

Alternatively, you can contact our customer service team, who will be more than happy to help advise you on the best service for your requirements.

I require a tail lift collection/delivery. Could anything affect this? > Answer

In order to guarantee an easy and safe delivery, the majority of our vehicles are fitted with tail lifts and electric pallet trucks. These allow us to deliver goods to locations which do not have access to a forklift. For this service, pallets must be no more than 1.2m (L) x 1.2m (W) x 2.29m (H) and weigh 1000kg or less. Such deliveries can only be made on flat, firm surfaces to ensure the safety of the driver.

I don’t have a pallet. Are you able to package my goods on a pallet and ship them for me? > Answer

Yes. We can move goods that are not palletised by collecting them and palletising them ourselves. You will be required to select the pallet and wrap surcharge (PW) when booking your job, and we will take care of the rest.

What happens to the packaging that my goods come with e.g. shrink wrap and pallet? > Answer

All goods and packaging become the property of the person accepting the delivery, and as such, all packaging will be left with them. We are aware that this can cause some frustration, especially if you are sending goods to a private address without the means to dispose of such packaging. We offer an additional service to remove all packaging, though please be aware that this will come with an additional fee. Please let us know when booking your job if you will require this service.

Do you deliver on Saturday, Sundays and Bank Holidays? > Answer

We are able to deliver on any day at any time. Anything delivered outside of Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700hrs will be charged separately and must be agreed in writing prior to collection.

Do I have to label my freight before collection? > Answer

All freight must be labelled before being loaded onto one of our vehicles. Labels can be printed from our freight portal. For customers despatching numerous pallets on a daily basis, we can provide and install a label printer to make this process more efficient. For more details, please contact our sales team.

What level of insurance are my goods covered by? > Answer

Mike Watson Transport operates under Road Haulage Association (RHA) and the European Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR).

Under these terms, all UK freight is covered as standard to a maximum of £1300 per tonne. We can also offer enhanced levels of cover of £5,000 and £10,000 per tonne. Please ask our sales team for more information
