Class 2 / C&D Driver HGV Class 1 Driver

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collection and delivery of goods
  • Check goods against delivery notes and advise shortages of damages
  • Liaise with other Class 2 and other Drivers
  • Adhere to current legislation regarding Drivers’ hours and Tachographs/Card
  • Carry out daily safety checks and report any vehicle defects promptly to Operations Manager
  • Report any accident damage promptly to the Transport/Line Manager
  • Ensure that the vehicle is kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times
  • Flexibility is key and occasional Saturday working is required (normally worked on a rota)

Skills, Knowledge and Qualities: 

  • HGV Class 2 Licence
  • 2 years experience with an excellent driving history - Must not have more than 6 points on licence
  • Ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • A positive attitude and proactive approach
  • Good level of English, written and oral
  • Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a fast-moving team
  • DCPC Card

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £28,704 per year

Additional pay: Bonus scheme

Schedule: 10-hour shift / Mon-Fri

Experience:

  • Driving a Goods Vehicle: 2 years (required)
  • Driving: 1 years (preferred)

License/Certification: Driver CPC (required)

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Transportation of goods as directed
  • Check goods against Manifest and advise any shortages or damages
  • Collect freight in order of priority i.e. Next Day, Timed etc
  • Report any delays likely to result in missed arrival times
  • Follow instructions from Management when on site
  • Liaise with other Drivers
  • Adhere to current legislation regarding Drivers’ hours and Tachographs/Card
  • Carry out daily safety checks and report any vehicle defects promptly to Operations Manager
  • Report any accident damage promptly to the Operations Manager
  • Ensure that the vehicle is kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times
  • Prepared to carry out various driving roles and duties, working nights and days as and when needed

Skills, Knowledge and Qualities: 

  • HGV Class 1 and Class 2 Licence plus FLT Counterbalance licence
  • Ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • A positive attitude and proactive approach
  • Good level of English, written and oral
  • Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a fast-moving team
  • Flexibility is key to this role, required to cover other driving roles in the business
